How to Make Iced Tea
Iced Tea makes a great refreshing summertime drink, allowing you to enjoy your favourite teas chilled over ice in the warmer months!
I love tea. The tea basket in my kitchen cupboard is full of all kinds of 'em. Black teas, green teas, herbal teas, matcha. But in the warmer months I don't always want a hot cup, which is where Iced Tea comes into play!
If you've never made iced tea yourself before, it's really easy to do and you can use literally any tea you like. I love this recipe with Yogi's Green Tea Passion Fruit Matcha because it has a nice fruity flavour to it.
How to Make Iced Tea
All you need for making homemade iced tea is:
your choice of tea (loose leaf or teabags) such as black tea, green tea, peppermint tea, or flavoured herbal blends such as Yogi's Green Tea Passion Fruit Matcha
water
sweetener such as honey or maple syrup
ice
a large jar or container
I recommend 1 teabag for every cup of water you use. So for 1L of water (~4 cups), you should use 4 teabags.
If you're using loose leaf tea, you'll just strain the steeped water through a fine mesh before mixing it with the rest of the water.
Homemade Iced Tea
An easy and refreshing iced tea recipe
Servings: 4
Ingredients
4 teabags or 8 tsp loose leaf tea (use any tea you like, such as peppermint, black tea, green tea, or a flavoured herbal blend)
1 L filtered water (about 4 cups)
2 tbsp honey or maple syrup
ice
Instructions
Boil 1 cup of water and pour into large jar.
Add teabags to hot water and allow teabags to steep for 15-20 minutes. Add in sweetener of choice (if desired) and stir. If you're using loose leaf tea, you'll just strain the steeped water through a fine mesh before mixing it with the rest of the water in the next step.
After tea has steeped, squeeze out extra water from teabags before removing and then set aside to cool a bit longer.
Once mixture has cooled, pour in cold filtered water (about 3 cups to fill your jar).
Add in ice, stir, and enjoy right away!
And that's it! Easy peasy. This is a fun recipe to make for the summer if you're entertaining or just want something light and refreshing to enjoy on a hot day.
